My First Day Of School
Monday, 02 July 2007
It was early in the morning... 7am to be exact. i didn't expect myself to wake up cuz for the past 7-8months, i've been waking up at around 11am on the average. however, it was my first day of school and i'm not the "jump-out-of-bed-feeling-so-excited" kind of person. my mum knows me well. the alarm clock is as useful as using a mic to talk to a deaf, or using a torchlight to light the way for a blind, or... ok, i think you get the picture. so she used the ULTIMATE WEAPON against my stubborn sleeping frame... SHE TURNED OFF THE AIRCON & SWITCHED ON THE DAMN LIGHTS!
my parents left for work and so i got ready for sch on my own. i didn't even intend to rush. i took my time. i always took the best option: take a chill pill. there's even time for MTV in the morning. finally, i left home and realised: oh shucks, i'm gonna be late.
once i arrived at room 402, i opened the door just as the Head of Admin said, "Punctuality is very important!" the whole lecture rm froze at the irony of the situation when i came in. i scurried to the nearest empty seat i could find and found myself seated next to 2 great girls: Stephanie and Lavina! long story short, Steph and i have quite a lot of common topics and she knows a number of people i know. Lav is a cute and pretty 17 yr old. when i mean cute, she's really cute! like the cutest girl i've ever met! (today she wore a pink spag and a black flowy skirt and she totally looked like an adorable ballerina! she learnt ballet before anyway)
my first lecture: econs lecture
lecturer: Sandra Yeo
she's like the Hong Kong version of Ellen Degeneres i tell you! she's super cool, funky and damn damn funny! when i saw her preparing a stage mic, i looked over to Lav and said, "whoa, the diva's gonna have a concert here!" but seriously, she's a very gd lecturer. i daresay she's on par with TYY but style-wise more similar to Helen Chong. her way of teaching are truely unique... here's an example.
sandra: who is this person in the picture?
class: elvis presley...
sandra: yes! it is him! but how do u know it's him? what is so special abt him?
class: his hair...
sandra: correct! what kind of hairstyle is this?
* i was wondering how this had anything to do with econs
class: *whispers* but no idea
sandra: *flashes a pic of a curry puff next to elvis* this is called Curry Puff hairstyle!
* roars of laughter
sandra: in 1977, elvis appeared in a news headline: Elvis Eats His First Burger.
why? tell me why is it a burger? why not his first curry puff? why burger?
* for a moment, i thought she was delusional and over-sensitive...
me: *trying to crap up somethg econs* ...cuz there's no supply of curry puffs?
sandra: yes, but before that?
me: erm... there's no demand?
bulls-eye! she was introducing Demand! wow! fantastic how she can link from Elvis Presley's distinctive hairstyle to econs! i mean, she is just amazing! she gave many gd and funny examples during the rest of the lecture too.. wow astounding! oh, she has a habit of putting a finger to her lips and saying "shhhh" when no one in the room is talking anyway! haha but she's damn eccentric and she's easily my favourite lecturer.
Dinner With Pi & Kong
poor gi was sick so she couldn't join us and shu left to meet her other friends. anw, we went to NYDC @ Wheelock fer dinner. pi told us about her sister's super dramatic life (the plot is better than any dumb ch8 or korean dramas. winning hands down!) kong and i started giving way to our wit yet again! first, we helped pi reply an apology sms fr the guy in her OG (in NUS orientation) who pinched her so hard she had bruises and blue-blacks everywhere during a game.
pointers in our suggestions: pipi....
1) is not taking the bruises well and is lying in the ICU of NUH since it was close to NUS.
2) is going thru a series of blood transfusion
3) threw her blood clots at the wall in her ward and they created dents.
2) does not want a basket of fruits from him but wants a limited edition abalone hamper with a complementary Fann Wong.
anyway, that aside, in pi's sis's dramatic life, "punggol seaside" was mentioned. so i suggested that if her life were to become a drama series, it can be a spoof on "Laguna Beach".... entitled: "Punggol Beach" - (kong said: a rustic Singapore tale) we even suggested dumb settings and the most irritating cliff-hangers imaginable. the script will actually showcase flashbacks of the individual lives of each character and show that everyone is connected in many ways... and one common enemy.
then kong and i decided to go to the washroom...
me: kong, actually we can even do a drama series on our lives. it'll be amusing...
kong: from and about the makers of "Punggol Beach" comes...
me: ... "And So There Were Five" (omg we'll be condemned for life)
Reasons why "ASTWF" will be even better than "Punggol Beach":
1) while PB has flashbacks, ASTWF has flashbacks of flashbacks of flashbacks of a flashback.
2) multiple settings: you'll never know where we'll be next
3) multi-sensory effects: with every level of flashback, the frame of the screen will get more and more misty.
4) excellent production crew: when it gets too foggy, we will swipe the haze away and wipe the camera with a cloth.
